Hello TEG Friends and Supporters!
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has started their license permitting process for the Gross Reservoir Expansion Project. This would be a great time to get active by submitting comments to FERC. Unsure of how to do that? Here are some hints! Here are links to sites where you can get information and submit comments:
- The Denver Water Board announcement about the FERC Public Comment Period can be found here. Comments are due by the April 7th.
- The original comments submitted to FERC from TEG can be found on the TEG website. Look under the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) section to view related documents, including TEG’s FEIS comment letter which is very comprehensive. This will provide you with all the details about what we objected to during the EIS comment period and will give you ideas of what to write.
- The Federal Register provides the links to actually submit your comments. Note that because this is a hydroelectric licensing application, commentators can submit brief comments up to 6,000 characters without prior registration by using the eComment system at http://www.ferc.gov/docs-filing/ecomment.asp You must include your name and contact information at the end of your comments.
We are also hosting a TEG community meeting where you can get an update on where we are in our fight and to find out more about what you can do!
Mark your calendars! Sunday, March 5th 3:00 – 5:00 PM Coal Creek Canyon Improvement Association (CCCIA) Hall 31458 CO-72, Golden, CO 80403
Gary Wockner from Save The Colorado will present an overview of the Moffat Collection System Project (Gross Dam expansion), its impacts on Boulder and Grand County, and where the permitting process is right now. The outcome of the FERC process will likely impact Gross Reservoir neighbors, so it is important to attend this meeting and learn how to give input to FERC. The Army Corps of Engineers is also likely to make their final permitting decision in the next few months, and so it is critical that Gross Reservoir citizens learn about the project and engage in the process.
You can also make a tax deductible contribution to help us in the fight for our neighborhoods and against a wasteful water project… Please click here to donate now!
