The Rocky Mountain River Celebration is a non-profit sponsored annual event featuring films and presenters focused on raising public awareness of river, stream and water-use issues both in Colorado and worldwide.  The event is hosted in solidarity with the International Day of Action for Rivers which, this year, lands on Friday, March 14th.

This 2nd annual Rocky Mountain River Celebration will be at Upslope Brewing Company’s gorgeous new tap room. This year’s lineup features a handful of award-winning river-centric short films, several speakers on western water issues, live music, performance art, a prize drawing, food truck, Boulder’s finest emcee and, of course, delicious Upslope beer. Proceeds will go to The Environmental Group of Colorado (TEG) working to produce a new educational public radio program that will air weekly across Colorado. The subject for the radio show? What else besides western water issues and the rivers that feed our bodies and souls.

Coal Creek Watershed Community Planning Event – Thursday, May 29th, 6-9pm @ CCCIA Hall
May 29 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

TEG (The Environmental Group) is sponsoring the creation of a watershed master plan for Coal Creek. We’d like to ask you to participate in this planning process by joining our first Community Planning Event! The September flooding left us in a state of physical and ecological disrepair. TEG has secured a grant from the Colorado Water Conservation Board to plan out how our community can recover with grace and minimize such catastrophic impacts in the future.

The goal of the master plan is to identify needs and priorities for the Coal Creek watershed, specifically focusing on drainage improvements, and other community benefits surrounding the waterways.

The first Community Planning Event is scheduled for Thursday May 29 at 6:00 – 9:00 pm and will be held at Coal Creek Canyon Improvements Building (CCCIA).  Joining TEG, will be our consultant team led by ICON Engineering.  We anticipate two additional community meetings throughout the planning process.

Please sign up for the Watershed Mailing List to stay up-to-date on meetings and progress of the Watershed Master Planning effort.

If you’re interested in playing a more time-intesive role, use the contact form to the right to inquire about participating in the Community Task Force.

With specific questions or concerns, you can always reach ICON Engineering’s Project Manager, Craig Jacobson at 303-221-0802.

The 3rd Annual Rocky Mountain River Celebration is a non-profit sponsored annual event hosted in solidarity with the International Day of Action for Rivers which, this year, lands on Saturday, March 14th.

The event features speakers and short films focused on raising public awareness of river, stream and water-use issues both in Colorado and worldwide.  This year, all proceeds and fundraising from the event will go toward the Boulder County & Colorado River Legal Defense Fund – currently accruing funds for legal action to stop Denver Water’s proposed Moffat/Gross project (which would be the largest construction project in Boulder County history and drain the Fraser River, if allowed to proceed).  Here you can see an Overview of Moffat/Gross and the Top 10 Fatal Flaws with Moffat/Gross.

The 3rd annual Rocky Mountain River Celebration will be at Upslope Brewing Company’s Tap Room in Boulder and will feature a full performance by celebrity adventure writer Craig Childs.  This year’s lineup will also features Timmy O’Neill as emcee, Brodie Kinder & The Killer Bees for musical entertainment, a handful of award-winning river-centric short films, several speakers on western water issues, a food truck and, of course, delicious Upslope beer.

Fall 2015 Gross Dam Public Meeting in Coal Creek Canyon @ Planet Earth
Oct 11 @ 6:00 pm

Date: Sunday, October 11, 2015
Time: 6pm
Location: Coal Creek Canyon Community Center (CCCIA, 31528 Highway 72, Golden, CO 80403)

The Environmental Group (TEG) will hold a public forum/meeting to bring everyone up to date on:

  • Denver Water’s public relations efforts,
  • the legal action TEG is taking to stop the expansion project,
  • our collaborations with other organizations,
  • the status of Boulder County’s stance and their options,
  • the success of our recent fundraising efforts,
  • and what you can do to help kill the project.

As has been thier strategy since 2003, Denver Water would like to have everyone believe that this project is a “done deal”, that it is “going to happen”.  But nothing could be further from the truth. Denver Water still has yet to be approved for a single one of the multiple County, State, and Federal permits required for the project, and the coalition of organizations combining resources to stop the project in court has grown in size and dedication every year. Currently, we are preparing to challenge the release of the first permit decision (a federal one: Clean Water Act 404) anticipated for this fall.

Our Citizens for Sustainable Water Management (CSWM) project has been underway for more than 3 years working on this, and we’re currently collaborating with the non-profit Save the Colorado to take direct legal action to stop Moffat/Gross via our Boulder County & Colorado River Legal Defense Fund.

Here you can see an Overview of Moffat/Gross and the Top 10 Fatal Flaws with Moffat/Gross.
