The Boulder County Commissioners reply Boulder County Commissioners can stop the Gross Dam Expansion – and we need to make sure they want to do that. Development may only proceed if it is consistent with the environmental and developmental goals of the local communities as outlined in the Boulder County 1041 regulations. In light of that, Gary Wockner of Save the Colorado summarized our concerns in an email to the Boulder County Commissioners earlier this year. Here is their response:
Please stay involved and be ready to provide input when the county requests it. We will keep you posted on when and where to write or speak.
Meanwhile…. it’s Fall on the Fraser River!
More people are joining our fight as they realize the risk to this beautiful river. High Country News published an excellent article highlighting the fact that the Gross Dam Expansion is unnecessary and wasteful. Read their article Rural Colorado can’t afford to lose more water to Denver that was written by Mike Chiropolos, the lawyer who is supporting us in beating this ill conceived dam project.
Let’s keep up the good fight for the sake of the Eastern AND Western slope ecosystems. The fight to protect the area around Gross Reservoir is a GRASS ROOTS EFFORT! We appreciate everyone’s interest and actions.
