Denver Water’s Moffat Project FEIS Released — a Lose-Lose Boondoggle
FRIDAY Fundraiser at Upslope / Moffat FEIS April 25th
This Friday, come to Upslope in Boulder!Rocky Mountain River CelebrationIt’s a fundraiser event for TEGhttp://tegcolorado.org/2014-rocky-mountain-river-celebration-at-upslope.htmlHosted in solidarity with the International Day of Action for Rivers which, this year, lands on Friday, March 14th. This 2nd annual Rocky Mountain River Celebration will be at Upslope Brewing Company’s gorgeous new tap room in Boulder. The lineup features a handful of award-winning river-centric short films, several speakers on western water issues, live music, performance art, a prize drawing, food truck, Boulder’s finest emcee and, of course, delicious Upslope beer.Proceeds will go to The Environmental Group of Colorado (TEG). Here’s a link to the Facebook event page: http://goo.gl/2euXOLCan’t make it to the event? Purchase a ticket for someone else!Want to make an even bigger impact on the work that TEG is doing? We’re raising funds for several different approaches to dealing with Denver Water’s proposed Moffat Project (expansion of Gross Reservoir) – from producing public radio segments to direct legal action – and we need to raise quite a bit of money quickly. We’ll be announcing how much we’ve been able to raise before Friday’s event and then try to inspire the attendees to match that amount. So, donate to TEG before Friday and we’ll work to double your contribution!Donations can be made with credit card via Paypal here: http://goo.gl/dO1I98Or a check can be made out to TEG (Note “CSWM or Gross” in the “info” section on the check) and mailed to: PO BOX 7014, Golden, CO 80403.And what does all this fundraising go toward? The Final Environmental Impact Statement for the proposed Moffat Collection System Project (expansion of Gross Reservoir) is slated for release on April 25th. We’ve leveraged our donation monies, combined with a commendable volunteer effort, to prepare extensively for the document’s release. However, much work is yet to be done and will likely make the difference between successfully holding our ground or being run over. This is a David vs. Goliath fight for sure, but there are opportunities for our success. We need to have the science to back our arguments completed, by professionals, before the end of the FEIS comment period.Let’s pool our resources to make this happen! If you donate $100 or more, we’ll happily thank you publicly (if you’d like that) at Friday’s fundraising event at Upslope in Boulder. (and give you admission, a free beer, a surprise gift, and VIP seating.)Thank you for your continued interest in TEG’s activities, and see you Friday!Respectfully,Chris GarrePresident, TEGtegcolorado.org
