CCCIA Supports TEG/CSWMThis past month, if you’re a member of the Coal Creek Canyon Improvement Association (CCCIA), you likely received a phone call asking for your opinion on Denver Water’s proposed expansion of Gross Dam Reservoir (the Moffat Collection System Project). For several years, TEG has been leading the community effort in opposition of Denver Water’s unnecessary project – one which would have devastating impacts on residential life in the canyon for 4-7 years and environmental consequences that would last much longer.
In February, TEG’s Gross Dam project group, which goes by the name Citizens for Sustainable Water Management (CSWM), requested a sizable financial donation from CCCIA to support the effort. In response, and after careful consideration, including a membership poll which revealed overwhelming opposition to Gross Dam expansion, the CCCIA board made a bold, community-driven decision to approve the donation. CCCIA’s donation was matched, dollar-for-dollar by the Curtis’ (north shore residents), as well as an additional 50-cents-for-dollar match by an anonymous donor. These significant financial contributions will aid CSWM tremendously in the effort to steer Denver Water away from a proposed expansion of Gross Dam Reservoir and toward more progressive water supply/recycling projects already standard amongst the vast majority of utilities sourcing water from the Colorado River.

There are even a couple of officer positions (board members with specific duties) opening up. If you think it might be something you’d be interested in, send us an email right away letting us know!
